Busby leads the way with 15 points and eight boards
The Dundalk boys’ basketball team led from wire-to-wire, Friday night, as they defeated visiting Hereford, 59-51, in Baltimore County Division I action.
The Owls (8-2 overall, 2-1 Baltimore County D1) dominated the opening half, building a 35-22 lead at the intermission, but gave Hereford an opening when they failed to score over the first five minutes of the second half. The Bulls, however, made little impact on their deficit as they only managed four points during that span.
Hereford (6-4 overall) did make a charge in the fourth quarter, but Dundalk ultimately had enough left to finish of its third straight win. Tayquan Busby led the Owls with 15 points and eight rebounds. Michael Johnson netted 11 and Jaylon Johnson had 10 points, five assists and three steals.
“This was a very good win against a well-coached and fundamentally sound Hereford team,” said Dundalk coach Steve Oppenheim. “Anytime we play Hereford, execution is very important. We shot the ball well tonight and were able to get the defensive stops when we needed to.”
Junior Will Reider scored a game-high 23 points to pace Hereford, while Mark Suchy and Brock Moritz combined for 25 points.
