Freshman Taleah Dixon finished with 12 points and senior point guard Danielle Edwards added 10 as No. 1 McDonogh School defeated Archbishop Spalding, 49-40, in an IAAM A Conference basketball contest Friday in Severn.

The defending IAAM A champ Eagles (4-0 overall, 2-0 IAAM A) pulled away in the second half, winning for the 24th time in 25 decisions in the calendar year. Victoria Reynolds had a game-high 14 points for Spalding (4-1, 1-1 IAAM A), and Kaila Clark finished wiith 11.

McDonogh and Spalding head to Roland Park Country School for the Beast of the East Showcase Sunday. The Eagles take on Pennsylvania’s Archbishop Wood and Spalding play New York’s Upper Room Christian Academy in the final game of the tourney.
