After a slow start, Milford Mill Academy dominated play in the second half Saturday against C. Milton Wright, taking a 46-14 decision in a Class 3A North Region football semifinal in Baltimore County.

The No. 9 Millers (10-1 overall) will host No. 19 Edgewood in the North final Saturday. The Rams surprised last year’s state finalist Franklin, 20-8, in the other semifinal Friday evening in Reisterstown.

The Millers, who lost to Franklin in last year’s North final, trailed 7-6 until Brandon Savage’s two-yard touchdown run gave the host the lead with 4 minutes, 8 seconds left in the first half. Troy Scott broke free down the sidelines for a 32-yard touchdown and Savage followed with the two-point conversion, extending Milford Mill’s advantage to 20-7 early in the third.

Savage threw a quick pass to Rishon Holmes, who scooted untouched down the sidelines for a 30-yard touchdown. Holmes, a freshman, also added a rushing score and a threw for another. Junior running back Jordan Morant had a rushing score.

C. Milton Wright, which got a six-yard touchdown run from Jake Hoffman in the first half, finished 7-4 on the season.

Milford Mill, which won the Baltimore County Division I title, will try to advance to its first state semifinal since 2012 Saturday against upstart Edgewood. The Rams, in the playoffs for the first time since 2006, collected their first postseason win Friday against Franklin.
