Breakdown of Bruins' 2017 schedule
With the start of practice for the 2017 high school football season approaching, Varsity Sports Network's Derek Toney takes a look at the regular season itinerary for select area teams.
2016 record: 8-4 (Class 4A East Region finalist)
2016 review: The Bruins reached the 4A East Region final for the second straight season. The Anne Arundel County school returns one of the area's best wide receivers in junior Ethon Williams, headlining nearly 40 scheduled returning letterwinners.
2017 opponents' win/loss record (from 2016): 57-47 (.548)
Toughest 2017 opponent: Old Mill. The Patriots won the Anne Arundel County title in 2016 and 2015. The Millersville school, winners of 29 straight regular season league decisions, will reload again with another talented crop of athletes, led by all-league linebacker Aaron Dawson.
Most intriguing 2017 opponent: Annapolis. The Panthers ended Broadneck's season in the 4A East final last fall, advancing to their first state semifinal since 2000. The Riva Road school (No. 5 in final VSN Top 20 poll in 2016) graduated the league's best player in Cameron Hough, but will have Dayshawn Womack and Omar'od White, both all-league first team picks in 2016, leading the charge in 2017.
