Dulaney ends Bel Air’s 4A title reign

Dent's home run keys a five-run fifth inning, propelling the Lions to a 6-3 victory
Ronald DentNo. 6 Dulaney scored five times in the bottom of the fifth inning, Tuesday, to rally to a 6-3 win over No. 13 Bel Air in a 4A North Region Section I baseball playoff, ending the Bobcats reign as 4A state champions.

Bel Air starter Zach Radcliffe cruised through the first four innings, allowing just two hits and one run. In the fifth, however, Nicky Manzoni had a leadoff single for the Lions and, after a force out, Ronald Dent launched a two-run home run. Bryce Frederick followed with a double and, with two outs, Mitch Lavoie chased Radcliffe with an RBI single. Later in the inning Jack Tarantino also added an RBI single.

Manzoni also had a double and an RBI in the second inning. He was the only Lion (19-2) with two hits.

Tarantino pitched the first four innings, allowing all three Bel Air runs, two of which were earned. Danny Beard pitched three scoreless innings of relief, not all owing a hit to shut down Bel Air and earn the victory.

Radcliffe had a double and an RBI for Bel Air (14-7) and Cameron Kalandros had a solo home run for the Bobcats.

Dulaney will now host Howard on Friday, at noon, in the 4A North Region championship game.
