Vermillion pitches Spalding to shutout of St. John’s (DC)

Senior also homers in 8-0 victory
In the makeup for a contest that was postponed on Thursday, No. 4 Archbishop Spalding traveled to D.C. on Friday and earned a chilly 8-0 non-league baseball victory over host St. John’s (DC).

Senior Nick Vermillion pitched five innings of shutout ball, allowing just two hits and striking out seven to earn his second win over the year. He also had two hits, including a home run, and a pair of RBI at the plate.

Peter Godrick contributed a hit, two RBI and a run scored, while Kris Bukowski, Cory Blohm, Jack Triolo and Nick Benitez also had RBI’s.

Cameron Webb followed Vermillion to the mound with a scoreless inning of work and Jordan Geber finished up the shutout with a scoreless inning.

Spalding is now 2-1 on the season.
