Vermillion tosses six shutout innings
Three-time defending MIAA A Conference baseball champion Archbishop Spalding picked up its first win of 2017, Thursday afternoon, blanking host Georgetown Prep, 3-0, in Bethesda.

Nick Vermillion made the start and tossed six shutout innings to help the Cavaliers even their season record at 1-1. Vermillion struck out five and walked none in the effort and also added a double at the plate.

Kris Bukowski was 2-for-3 at the plate and scored twice, while Brendan Foley and Justin Pelletreau drove in runs for the Cavs.

Spalding broke on top with two runs in the fourth and added one more in the top of the sixth. Georgetown Prep managed just five hits and committed three errors.
