Quakers may start as many as five freshman in 2017; Team Preview

The Friends School softball team will look to improve on a 3-6 record from a year ago with an infusion of young talent.

The Quakers expect to start four or five freshman in 2017, with pitcher Julia Parker expected to be the top new comer.

“Our talented freshman will have to perform for us to be competitive,” said head coach Ken Zalis, in his seventh year with the Quakers. “We lost our top two offensive players from last year to graduation, but will have more pitching depth then in previous years.”

The top returning position player is junior outfielder Lucy Meigs, an All-IAAM selection last year. Junior Tyler Rifkin, who pitches and plays both middle infield positions, is also back. Junior catcher/shortstop Katie Capizzi and senior corner infielder Madison Moore are also experienced returners for the Quakers.

Head Coach:
Ken Zalis (7th year)

Lucy Meigs, Jr., OF (All-IAAM in 2016)
Tyler Rifkin, Jr., 2B/SS/P
