Blazers will rely on a four-pitcher rotation; Team Preview

The Notre Dame Prep softball team was on top of the world in 2012 when the Blazers won the IAAM B Conference softball championship. The four years since, however, have not been as kind as NDP has struggled after a mandatory move to the A Conference.

In 2017 hope has returned, as the Blazers have moved back to the B Conference.

“In 2012 we won the B conference championship and they forced us to A,” said coach Emily Solel, now in her 13th season. “We were in the A for four years with last place finishes each year. I have no idea how we will look now that we have moved to B. Hoping we are equivalent to B teams and it will be a more enjoyable season for the girls.”

The team’s top returning position player is senior centerfielder Ava Zannino, who has committed to play on the college level with Catholic University.

“We have four pitchers and we’re looking to be able to rotate each one,” added Solel. “We’re looking forward to being back in the B conference and hopefully winning some games.”
