Big second quarter produces key MIAA A victory for the Dragons

After an embarrassing showing Saturday, No. 11 Glenelg Country School boys' basketball rediscovered its offense, knocking off eighth-ranked Boys' Latin School, 57-49, in MIAA A Conference action in Baltimore City Monday evening.

Senior guard Jalen Gabbidon scored 15 points for the Dragons, and St. Joseph's University (PA) recruit Anthony Longpre' added 10. Watts led Boys' Latin with 14 points.

Glenelg Country went on 19-4 run in the second quarter, building a 33-16 halftime advantage. Saturday against No. 4 Poly at the Power Move Winter Showcase, the Dragons managed just 10 first half points en route to a 60-30 loss.

The Dragons led 41-35 after three quarters Monday, but was able to close out the Lakers, who garnered their first Top 10 spot in VSN's Top 20. Junior wing Jaylin Andrews finished with 13 for BL.

With the victory, Glenelg Country (17-7 overall) improved to 8-6 in the A Conference, a half-game in front of BL (17-9 overall, 7-6 MIAA A) in the Black Division standings. The Dragons are currently in third-place and the Lakers are in fourth. Both have clinched playoff spots.
