Chapelgate wins the Maryland Christian Schools Division 1 title

Yellow Jackets rout top-seeded Harford Christian, 75-46; Graves named MVP


Chapelgate Christian Academy’s boys basketball team closed its season with a three game sweep of the Maryland Christian Schools Division 1 Tournament, taking Saturday’s championship game in convincing fashion over top-seeded Harford Christian, 75-46, at Annapolis Area Christian School.

Deion Graves scored 13 points in the final for Chapelgate (12-20 overall) and was named the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year.

LeRome Ball was the leading scorer for the Yellow Jackets in the final, as he netted 19 points, while Jake Triangle added 12 and Earl Mitchell and Clifton McEachin scored 10 points each.

Chapelgate jumped to commanding lead early, outscoring Harford Christian 23-11 in the opening quarter and the Yellow Jackets held a 37-24 lead at the half.

Ball and Tringali joined Graves on the All-Tournament team. Rashawd Clowney and Derric Orr combined for 23 points to lead Harford Christian.
