No. 9 Glenelg Country School jumped out to a big first half lead and cruised to a 65-42 win over visiting Loyola Blakefield in MIAA A Conference basketball contest Friday evening in Ellicott City.

Senior Anthony Longpré, who scored 13 points in the contest scored nine points in the opening quarter as the Dragons (14-6 overall, 6-6 MIAA) built a 17-19 lead. Isaiah Burnett, who finished with a game-high 17 points, netted seven in the second quarter and GCS grew its lead to 35-16 at the break.

Jalen Gabbidon added 13 points for the Dragons and Caidon Owen netted 11 points.

Ken Lewis was the only Loyola player to score in double figures, finishing with 11 points.    

The victory keeps Glenelg Country safely in the top four in the Black Division of the A Conference and on track for a playoff appearance.

Loyola (5-11) is now 1-9 in the league and virtually out of the post-season chase.
