Falcons win at St. Paul’s, 64-56
Gerstell Academy remained within one game of first place in the MIAA B Conference basketball standings, Wednesday, with a 64-56 league road victory at St. Paul’s School.
Gerstell blitzed St. Paul’s in the opening quarter, 21-8, and led throughout. St. Paul’s got within 10 at the half and closed the gap in the fourth quarter, but never seriously threatened the lead.
Ahmad Harrison scored 15 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Falcons, while Anthony Carpenter had 10 points, six rebounds and four assists. In addition, Brad Witt just missed a double-double, scoring 12 points, grabbing nine rebounds and blocking five shots.
Tryon Wright led St. Paul’s with a game-high 17 points and he added six rebounds and four assists. Ziggy Reid had 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists, and AJ Sawyers scored 12 points for the Crusaders.
The Falcons (7-8 overall) are now 4-1 in the conference, trailing only undefeated Indian Creek (5-0) and Severn (3-0) at the top of the standings.
