Top-ranked Friars blitz No. 9 Loyola, 5-0


Top-ranked Archbishop Curley continues to dominate all comers, ripping No. 9 Loyola Blakefield, 5-0, in MIAA A Conference soccer, Friday at Curley.

The undefeated Friars (6-0 overall, 4-0 MIAA A) recorded their second consecutive shutout and have now outscored their four league components by a combined 16-1.

Senior Nick Richardson led the way on Friday with two goals and an assist. Nick Balcer opened the scoring and Ben Stitz recovered from a first half knock to find the net twice in the second half. Adrian Avellaneda, Anthony Dragisics and Bryce Woodward also contributed assists.

On Sunday, Curley will travel to Downtown, Pa. to face The Hun School (NJ) in the 26-team Mainline Jamboree. They then travel to John Carroll on Monday before returning to home to face No. 2 McDonogh on Wednesday.

Loyola (2-3 overall) slipped to 1-3 in league play.
