University of Michigan recruit Lauren “Boogie” Brozoski scored 20 points and Nani Redford added 14, leading New York’s Long Island Lutheran to a 59-42 victory over No. 2 Roland Park Country School at the Beast of the East girls’ basketball tournament at Roland Park Sunday afternoon.

Long Island Lutheran (2-0 overall), ranked No. 8 in the nation by USA Today, built a 37-16 halftime advantage en route to a second straight victory over the Reds in the nationally-regarded tournament. Long Island Lutheran, the three-time reigning Class 2A New York state champs, won 50-39 last year.

Jeydah Johnson finished with 17 points for Roland Park (6-1), which had its 15-game regular season winning streak snapped. Jaia Alexander added 12 points and High Point University recruit Lindsay Edwards had 11.

The Reds host top-ranked and defending IAAM A Conference champ McDonogh School Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles defeated Roland Park in last year’s league championship match.
