Owns and Andrews provide a premier match-up, combining for 66 points

Two of the top basketball players in the MIAA went head-to-head Monday night as Boys’ Latin went on the road to outlast Severn 67-62 in a non-league MIAA basketball battle.

Severn’s LJ Owens filled it up all night, pouring in a game-high 35 points, putting on an absolute shooting exhibition, but BL’s Jaylin Andrews kept close pace with 31 points and got enough help from his teammates to lead the way to victory.

Cam Spencer added 20 points for the Lakers and Cameron Watts dishing out 6 dimes for BL.

The contest was close throughout with both teams trading small leads along the way. In the end it was Boys’ Latin’s free throw shooting that closed out the game. The Lakers went 19-for-22 from the charity stripe.
