Senior Maria Coffin of Annapolis and McDonogh junior Dalton Hengst both competed in the Footlocker Cross Country National Finals, Saturday, in San Diego, Ca., and both represented their home state well.

Coffin, a two-time state champion, placed 10th in the girls’ race at Morley Field, Balboa Park, posting a time of 17:50.02.

Hengst, who has won two consecutive MIAA individual titles, placed 21st in the boys’ race with a time of 15:37.6.

Both races included 40 runners, each qualifying in their respective regional race. Reed Brown of South Lake, Tx., won the boys’ championship and Claudia Lane of Malibu, Ca. was the girls’ champion.
