Chapelgate defeats St. Mary’s in MIAA B action
Chapelgate Christian had three players score in double-figures as the Yellow Jackets went on the road to Annapolis, Monday, to defeat host St. Mary’s, 53-49, in MIAA B Conference basketball action.
It was an uphill climb for Chapelgate (5-8 overall, 2-3 MIAA B) in the early going, as it fell behind 18-9 in the open quarter, but the Yellow Jackets limited the Saints to just eight second quarter points as they pulled within four at half, 26-22.
By the end of the third quarter, Chapelgate had forged a one point lead and went on to the four-point victory.
Odell Dickerson paced a balanced scoring attack with 14 points, followed by 12 from Cameron Heard and 11 from Jalen Morant. In addition, Blake Hatcher contributed nine points for the Yellow Jackets.
Patrick Devitt was the only St. Mary’s (1-8 overall, 1-3 MIAA B) player to reach double digits as he scored a game-high 14 points. Connor Odom added nine points for the Saints.
